UPDATE: This looks to be a much easier way to accomplish the $TICK alerts without use of a complex formula. I’ll leave the Complex Alert methodology below as a reference.
1) Just set up a TOS alert like you would for any other symbol (i.e. LAST at or above 1000/ at or below -1000), check “Recreate alert for reverse crossover” and customize the sound if desired.

Thanks to an email from TOS’ Guido passed along to me, we now have a way to have audible $TICK alerts in TOS that reset automatically. Here are the basic steps:
1. Go to the Market Watch Tab and enter the symbol $TICK
2. Press the Study Alert button

3. Choose Complex Formula
4. In the formula box enter either high > 1000 or low < -1000 (Substitute your own thresholds as required). You’ll need a separate alert for the high and low $TICK
5. Change the Tigger if to Above 0.50
6. Select 1m for the aggregation period
7. Press Create Alert

8. Back in the Alert Book, right click on the word “Active” in the status column and select “Cancel/Replace Alert”

9. Click the little gear at the far right of the new alert
10. Check “Recreate alert for reverse crossover” and customize the sound if desired.
11. Ensure the threshold value is still 0.5 (mine resets to 0 – Might be able to skip step 5)
12. Hit OK and then Create Alert

Three cheers for TOS and Guido for listening to our requests.

Yet another useful tool.
Good get!
Peace-
You are so money…
LOL, I finally gave up wating for this and opened at TS IRA account just so I could have trendline alerts and persistent audio alerts. Gotta say I love them, been extremely useful. But cool there is now a workaround in TOS for at least horizontal line persistent alerts.
Hi,
Thanks for the great tutorial. Just one question. Is there a way to reactivate the alert once it’s been triggered?
Have a great weekend.
Yes…take a careful look and you’ll see that by clicking the little gear on the right side you get a new dialog box that pops up. In this box, check the option for “Recreate alert for reverse crossover” and the alert will reset itself each time (there is a byproduct of this method that doubles the number of alerts you get but it works nonetheless.

Thanks Eric! You’ve made my week.
Thanks for the script. A month back TOS helpdesk told me that I will have reset the alert myself everytime. May be they did not know this feature.
I’m using the simple method above (without complex formula) and I’m applying this on $TIKI. I have it setup to send an alert AT OR ABOVE 22 and AT OR BELOW -22 with “Recreate alert for reverse crossover” checked. For some reason, AT OR ABOVE 22 is working flawlessly but AT OR BELOW -22 is not triggering at all. Can someone point me to the right direction? Thanks!
The reason is because the stock will never reach -22. Just leave 22 and you will be fine. Take note the at or below condition takes into account BELOW 22 as well.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

is there a way to set the alert so lets say on wed at 10:30 am the oil inventory report comes out so I do not want to be in the market when that happens can I set an audio alert telling me that “the report comes out in 10 minutes” for example and other once like that as well
thanks
Eric
